Pilates & Presence: A Community Fundraiser for Healing
A community night of movement, mocktails, and mutual care — all in support of my upcoming surgery and recovery.
Join me at Detroit Yoga Lab for an evening that blends Pilates, music, and connection. We’ll move together, sip tasty mocktails, and gather in support of my healing journey. This class is donation-based — you can give whatever feels accessible to you. Every contribution helps me take time off work to recover with more ease and less financial stress.
Date: Friday, December 19th
Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
Location: Detroit Yoga Lab
What is Pilates & Presence?
Pilates & Presence is a 2-hour, all-levels event that mixes a playful Pilates class with a cozy, community-centered hangout.
We’ll spend the first half of the evening in a gently challenging, music-driven Pilates flow, and the second half sipping mocktails, snacking, and connecting. Think: soft lighting, good music, and a room full of people who believe in caring for each other.
This gathering is also a fundraiser — all funds raised will go directly toward my surgery and recovery costs.
Move for healing. Stay for community.
What to expect:
6:15 PM – Arrival
Come a little early to check in, roll out your mat, and grab your first mocktail.
6:30–7:15 PM – Pilates Party
We’ll move through an all-levels Pilates class that’s grounded, energizing, and trauma-informed. Options will be offered throughout; you’re welcome to modify, rest, or move in the way your body needs.
7:15–8:30 PM – Mocktails & Mingling
We’ll shift into a social hour with mocktails, light snacks, and music. You’ll have time to connect, ask questions, write a note of encouragement if you’d like, and donate if/when it feels right for you.
You’re welcome to come for the class, the social portion, or both.
When you register, you’ll be able to:
Donate any amount to reserve your spot
Or choose a $0 registration if funds are tight right now and you still want to be there
The intention is that no one is turned away for lack of funds, and everyone has the opportunity to contribute in the way that feels aligned.
Why this fundraiser matters:
In January, I’ll be undergoing major abdominal surgery and will need to take significant time away from work to recover. As someone living with chronic illness, preparing for surgery isn’t just emotional and physical — it’s also deeply financial.
This event is one way my community can help me create a softer landing:
Covering medical and post-op care costs
Supporting time off from teaching and facilitation
Allowing me to focus on healing instead of scrambling to make ends meet
If you’ve practiced with me, attended a workshop, or been touched by my work in any way, this is a chance to support me in continuing to do that work from a more resourced, rested place.
